Although Elissa retired in April 2023, she is still coming in a few days a week to help us out as we transition to a new administrator. Elissa was our Financial Manager since 2005. She came to our synagogue in 1987 when her daughter Beryl, entered our Nursery Program at 2 years old. Elissa is mother of three, Beryl, Jason and Jarred. In January, 2022, she became a first-time grandmother with the birth of Harrison Edward and in February 2023 another Joshua Gavin, grandson arrived.
Since joining SHJC in December of 2006, Don has made our synagogue sparkle with both his tools and his personality. Don and Pedro work together to keep our facility up and running. While he thinks of us as his extended family, we are grateful to him for making us such a high priority. We thank his wife Judy, for sharing him with us. Since his arrival, Don has been blessed with two grandchildren, Addison & Logan. We love you Don!
Stacey came to SHJC in 2001 when her daughter Jamie entered our Nursery Program. She became very involved in the school—running Ladies Night Out, starting the Adopt-A-Family Program, implementing a lunch program and creating after school activities. By the time her son Josh began here, she was a nursery liaison. Occasionally she would temp in the office and by 2014 she officially joined the staff as an administrative assistant.
Fran has been our Synagogue secretary since 2016. She came to Melville JC after the synagogue she worked in for 22 years merged with another temple. Fran could have gone with the merger, but found a home here instead at Melville JC. She is usually the first person you see when you enter the door. Fran is also a mother of three grown children, Anita, Starr and Nicholas.
